Unipart Logistics

WHAT THE CLIENT SAID

“Excellent serviceTeepee worked seamlessly with our contractors to deliver a first-class solution that met challenging criteria. Their knowledge of Building Regulations and their professional and collaborative approach with existing suppliers has made this potentially complex process, easy.”

CHALLENGES

As the site had a 24/7 operation, great care had to be taken to ensure there would be segregation between Unipart logistics employees and Teepee staff.

Due to the type of products being stored, all aisles had to be fitted with sprinklers to meet insurance requirements.

HOW WE SUCCEEDED

Teepee submitted detailed drawings of the area accompanied by a program of works to Unipart’s Health & Safety division to agree with operations before commencement. In the schedule, Teepee agreed to install perimeter Heras style safety fencing around the build area, with suitable safety signage before starting any works.

This enabled Teepee to install a new perimeter fence nom 3000mm high constructed from angled framed weld mesh steel partitioning to segregate the Aerospace and Defense division from other businesses located within Unipart’s 869,730 sq ft (80,830m2) distribution facility.

On completion of the fencing, Teepee installed new short span shelving. This boltless shelving system comprised bays nom 3000mm high x 1250mm wide x 450mm deep, having 10 shelves in the height capable of supporting a uniformly distributed load (UDL) of 120 Kgs per shelf.

To meet insurance requirements, all shelving bays were fitted with weld mesh backs and sides to segregate products and ensure sprinklers would work effectively in the event of a fire.

OUR SOLUTION PROVIDED

  • A new 44,492 sq ft (4,135m2) self contained area.
  • Security doors fitted, to provide restricted access.
  • A total of 336 No. bays of shelving were installed.
