SEMA are the governing body within the UK with regards to design, supply and installations of all adjustable pallet racking and shelving systems including cantilever racking and mezzanine floors.
SEMA is also an active member of the British Materials Handling Federation (BMHF) and represents the British National committee within the European Racking Federation (ERF), a federation of racking, shelving and storage equipment manufacturers associations across Europe which seeks to establish common policies. SEMA has several division manufacturers: Distributors, Suppliers, Installers and Inspectors: SEMA work to ensure that all materials handling and storage equipment is compliant with Health & Safety and British Standards, therefore ensuring the safety of your storage system and its users. SEMA’s Racking Inspection division, are recognised by the HSE as being a reliable and thorough service, which is carried out by competent professionals.
Teepee were one of the first companies to obtain the SEMA Distributor Company (SDC) status and carry the ‘highly commended’ status. Which means we supply, deliver, install and inspect to industry standards.
SEMA Approved Storage Inspector
A SEMA Approved Racking Inspector is qualified to carry out an unbiased, comprehensive, ground level inspection of all of your on-site racking and storage equipment.
By using a SEMA Approved Racking Inspector (SARI), you can be assured all inspections will be carried out by a qualified inspector having suitable professional indemnity insurance. This proven inspection and reporting system has been produced by the Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA), designed to promote safety within the workplace and being favoured by the HSE. By carrying out an annual inspection, you can be assured a ‘technically competent’ person will arrive on site guaranteeing you, the customer, peace of mind.
Prior to becoming an inspector, all potential candidates have had several years of experience working within the industry before undertaking a rigorous training course to become SEMA Approved Racking Inspectors. On completion of the course, all SARI’s are assessed under a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme ensuring that all inspections meet the latest SEMA recommendations and HSE legislation.
The SafeContractor scheme provides a health and safety audit service for contractors who want to reassure their clients that health and safety is being handled correctly and sufficiently on their sites.
